KP were so excited to have some very special visitors to our classroom this afternoon. We had two gorgeous wombats named Tiggy and Legolas visit us. One of our student's grandparents care for orphaned wombats. They have rescued and cared for 30 wombats which is amazing! Sadly both Legolas and Tiggy's mothers were found dead on the side of the road, but luckily for the babies they were retrieved from the pouch and rescued. Legolas is now 9 months old and only has three legs. It is thought this is how he was born and not the result of an injury. Little Tiggy is only 3 months old. All KP children were able to pat the wombats if they wished and we learnt a lot about what wombats eat, where they live and why they have such sharp claws and teeth. We would like to say a big thank you again for treating us to such a lovely visit by two very cute and hairy friends!
