The big day arrived and KP, dressed in their colourful clothes, were ready for action! With their contract around their neck, there was no time to waste in preparing for the Monster Party! Playdough monsters to create, monster hats to make, monster maths, drawing and games to enjoy as well. A massive thanks to Lottie's mum who was kept busy helping the children make their monster hats. Food wise KP had to make a monster face sandwich, a meanie biscuit, collect some green slime with worms, monster rocks and monster mud to wash it all down. We had some quiet movie time to ensure everyone had completed their tasks and then it was time to head back to the Kinder room to enjoy the monster feast! Here are all our 'monster goodies' ready for the party. Photo time before we could start eating. (We were very patient!!) The KP monsters! Beautifully behaved monsters! We were so proud of you. There is a Kinder Monster photo page on our school website that has lots more photos of KP in action with all their other Kinder friends in KC, KD and KF. Please visit this page by clicking on the image below. Enjoy!
KP had their last 'On The Move' science lesson this week and reflected on all that they have learnt this term. Their assessment also included what they had enjoyed the most this term and it was recorded using the 'Explain Everything' iPad app.
In Maths this week we revisited 3D objects. Our focus this week was on how they move. Which objects are round and roll? Which objects have flat surfaces and slide. Which 3D objects have a combination of both?
We love this song! Please sing along at home!
KP have loved Dance2bfit this term. We have learnt so many dances and had so much fun along the way. Lots of photos of us dancing each week, plus all the videos of us dancing, are now on a special page on our school website. So if you feel like dancing yourself . . . or watching some fabulous dancers, please visit this page on our school website below!
We designed a very special house for Grug! He loved exploring the different rooms today!
Today we had a very different monster challenge! First of all we had to use plasticine to create two 'rainbow' monsters. We then had to draw a party background for our monsters. We independently wrote our own story about one of our monsters and read our story into the microphone. Here are the photos of our monsters with our recorded voices below. A fantastic effort by all KP children!
KP's Monsters' Party from Sue Dowling on Vimeo. These were the names of our two experiments in science this week. Firstly, we investigated how far different sized objects would roll with all other variables the same. We used ball bearings - large and small. We had to predict which one would roll the furthest. We used a ramp and we made it a fair test with all balls let go from the top of the ramp. After much discussion some of us the thought the larger ball would roll further, some thought the smaller one, some thought they would roll the same distance. It was time to test our predictions. We worked in teams to carry out our experiment a number of times to ensure a valid result. This is what we discovered - the larger ball rolled further every time, for every team. Our second experiment involved investigating whether a ball bearing would roll further over a smooth or bumpy surface. After much discussion everyone predicted that the ball bearing would roll further over a smooth surface. We thought that a bumpy surface would slow it down and it wouldn't roll as far. Again we made it a fair test, this time by using the same sized ball bearing and letting it go at the top of our ramp. The only change was the surface of the ramp, rolling down while smooth and then rolling down again with a bumpy surface created with bubble wrap. We worked in teams again to repeat the experiment many times to ensure a valid result. Our prediction was confirmed - the ball rolled further down the smooth surface. We had the same result from every team, every time. We thought it might be fun to try rolling things on different surfaces at home!
We are loving our Monday Monster Challenges. Another wonderful job by KP!
It was off to the circus for KP today! We had ringmasters, trapeze artists, clowns and the strong men. Lots of fun!
