It was 'I Wonder Who Wednesday' today and thanks so much to our nanna who read one of her favourite books 'The Three Musketeers' to KP this morning. The children loved this story! Thanks again to our nanna who volunteered to be KP's mystery reader today - there was a very happy grandaughter in KP today! During our 'Pirate Party' festivities KP used the 'Feltboard' app on our iPads to create a pirate picture and we uploaded it to our Seesaw online portfolio. We think our pirates look very friendly and really quite stylish! Looks like a mouse plague though on some of the pirate ships!
Aargh me hearties! Our special end of term 'Pirate Party' coincided with 'International Talk Like a Pirate Day' yesterday! KP enjoyed transforming themselves into pirates using the 'Make Me Pirate' app. We did some app smashing, like all good pirates do, and uploaded our newly created pirate pics to the 'Chatterpix' app. We had lots of fun recording ourselves talking like a pirate. Have a look and listen to the KP pirates or you may have to walk the plank!

This week to celebrate what we have learnt this term, and also being the last week of term, we held a 'Pirate Party'. (It also just happened to be 'Talk Like a Pirate Day'!) First of all we had to follow the directions on a Pirate Treasure map to find a chest full of pirate coins on our top oval. But before we could claim any of this treasure for ourselves, we had to answer a 'Pirate Quiz'!
The 'Under The Sea Cafe' then opened where we could buy some sea themed treats. Yum! We also took turns of being the cafe workers serving our friends. After enjoying our party food we wrote a pirate story, designed our own pirate treasure map, created pirate pictures on our iPads and made pirate puppets. A great day was had by all! You can see some of the fun in the slideshow below. KP's Pirate Party from Sue Dowling on Vimeo.
It was lots of fun, but what is a party without a pirate song and some pirate dancing? Here is the pirate song and dance we thoroughly enjoyed. Please sing and dance along at home!
KP have been reading and exploring Dreamtime stories in history and geography lessons. This week they read "The Echidna and the Shade Tree". KP made their own little echidna using plasticine. Great work KP!
International Dot Day is on September 15 every year and is named for the classic Peter H.Reynolds book 'The Dot'. 'The Dot' is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. This story has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the world. KP were inspired to create our own colourful dots and we were able to bring our dots to 'life' using the Quiver app on our iPads. Please have a look below, they look fabulous!
KP were also inspired to create our own wonderful 'dot' pictures. It's truly amazing what we can create from a single dot and a little imagination!
Here is 'The Dot' story again to watch, enjoy and talk about with our family at home.
Here is a video of our four Kindergarten classes performing their 'Rockin Rock Pool' song at Grandparent's Day last week. Gorgeous! It was the P&C's 'Crazy Sock Day' today to collect donated goods for our Spooky Carnival on the 28th October. KP certainly had some fun with their crazy socks today. Thanks so much to our parents for donating the art/craft materials for the carnival, your support is very much appreciated.
It was 'I Wonder Who Wednesday' today and thanks so much to our mum who read one of her favourite books 'Little Rabbit Foo Foo' by Michael Rosen to KP this morning. The children loved this story! Thanks again to our mum who volunteered to be KP's mystery reader today. There was a very happy boy in KP today! |
