Today we watched 'Which container holds more magic rocks?' with Flynn and Dodley. It was then time for us to do some hands on research ourselves. We rotated around tables using water, playdough, beans and stones to fill a variety of different sized containers. We experimented with filling our containers to the top, half filling them and emptying them. We used smaller sized containers to fill larger containers. We practised pouring carefully so containers didn't overflow. (Oops, sometimes they did!) Overall we had lots of fun and used lots of mathematical language too. Please view the slideshow below of us in action this afternoon. There is also a link to Flynn and Dodley below if you'd like to watch it again at home.
Our special homework this week is to use cups and containers in the bath or shower; pour, compare and most of all have lots of fun!
