Kindegarten had a fabulous day at the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium today. A bus trip to the city and seeing all the sea creatures we have been studying in class made for a very exciting experience for us. A massive thanks to Mrs Fuller for organising today's excursion and thanks again to all our wonderful mums and dads who came along today and helped keep us moving in the right direction! Lots of photos of today's adventure can be found here.

KP could not believe how big the Blue Whale is! It's the largest animal on land or sea in the world, its heart alone is the size of a small car. Wow! Whale was KP's 'word of the day' and they also completed an information report about the Blue Whale in L3 groups this morning.
KP really enjoyed this YouTube about the Blue Whale this morning.
We also found this clip about the Humpback Whale fascinating.
In Maths this year we have completed a lot of work with patterns - completing patterns and also creating our own. We have used various objects, shapes, body movements, numbers, letters, drawings etc to explore patterns. Today we used colour beads to create a bracelet for ourselves. We used three different colours and of course we had to make a pattern. We were concentrating so hard and constantly checking our progress by saying our colours to make sure we were making a pattern. Do you like creating patterns? How fantastic was our Book Week Parade today? KP looked gorgeous of course as they paraded today in front of all the school, family and friends. Thanks so much mums, dads and grandparents for helping with the children's wonderful costumes. They loved being dressed up and really got into the personality of their character today as you can see in the photos below! If you were able to make it this afternoon, we hope you enjoyed seeing all our children at HPS at the parade. Here are some photos of KP today in their private photo shoots - first off this morning and later in our classroom just before the parade. There are lots and lots of photos of KP and all of our classes and teachers at the parade today on the 'Latest Photos' page of our website so please take the time to have a look. Enjoy! It was our sixth week of 'I Wonder Who Wednesday' today and our first nan to read to us! Thanks so much to our mystery reader who read one of her favourite books 'Thelma The Unicorn' by Aaron Blabey to KP this morning. The children loved this story. KP thoroughly enjoy guessing who our reader is on Tuesday after reading the clues and they are loving Wednesday mornings! Thanks so much to our nan who volunteered to be KP's mystery reader today. There was a very happy granddaughter in KP today!
KP used the MoMA Art Pad iPad app to create some wonderful 2D shape pictures. We could make any picture we wanted, so we let our imagination run wild. We were very clever as we had to complete a few steps to upload our pictures to our Seesaw digital portfolio. We had to save our pictures to the MoMA gallery, navigate to the gallery, save our picture to the camera roll and then upload it to our Seesaw folder. Very tricky, but we did it! Please have a look at our shape creations (watch full screen).

You may have seen story this back on WIN News in June 2016 or in the 2515 local magazine. It's about a family that found a shark egg on the beach and after 87 days they successfully released the baby Crested Port Jackson shark back into the sea. KP have enjoyed learning about sharks and found this clip fascinating today. They were amazed to see the baby shark moving around inside its egg. KP wanted this on our blog to watch it again at home and show you in case you hadn't seen it.
We have been looking at some recent real-life clips about different sea creatures and KP found this little sea creature quite adorable. It has googly eyes just like we use on many of our art works and that's why it didn't look quite real. But it is! It was discovered by a research vessel exploring the ocean floor off the California coast on the 12/8/16. KP wanted it on our blog to show you at home.
KP loved learning about the special seahorse today. Seahorse was their 'word of the day' and they also completed an information report about the seahorse in L3 groups this morning.
KP really enjoyed this funny Youtube about the seahorse this morning.
KP finished off today by watching this great video of seahorses swimming, hanging on and hiding in a tank. We thought they looked so cute!
KP used the 'Drawing Pad' iPad app in L3 groups this morning to recreate a scene from 'The Rainbow Fish' story they have recently enjoyed. They inserted a sea background, used the sticker tool to insert two of the characters that help Rainbow Fish in this story - the starfish and the wise octopus. They then drew a beautiful rainbow fish to complete the picture. They saved their creations to the camera roll on the iPad and then uploaded their pictures to their journal on Seesaw. Well done KP! |
